Logistics Park
A 105-hectare site, formerly used for agriculture and forestry and located directly on the B3 federal road with access to the A485 motorway, was initially transformed into a military airfield for the German Wehrmacht, which was bombed on December 24, 1945. After the Second World War, the U.S. Army established the Ayers Barracks on the site, housing the largest tank battalion in Europe.
Up to 6,000 soldiers lived almost autonomously within the barracks complex. A complete infrastructure was created, including housing, offices, canteens, medical facilities, shopping areas, a cinema, a church, sports facilities, as well as independent energy and water supply systems. The barracks were abandoned in 1997.
For six years, discussions regarding the future use of the site took place, particularly within municipal and state political committees, until Bork Immobilien was awarded the contract to acquire the property through a Europe-wide tendering process. The purchase agreement was notarized on February 17, 2003. After completion of the urban planning procedures, including environmental impact assessments and the recovery of archaeological artifacts, demolition works began in 2004.
Magna Park Rhein-Main has since developed into a successful logistics park. Renowned companies such as Lidl, Iron Mountain, UPS, Bosch, Engelhard, Fresenius, and Cosnova / CNL have established operations there, occupying logistics halls with a total area of 250,000 sqm and 10,000 sqm of office space.
Magna Park Rhein-Main is being developed adjacent to the properties of the BORK Group, with whom we have already realized the following projects:
- Log-Serve I Logistics Center Rhenus
- Log-Serve II Logistics Center Bork
- Log-Serve II Truck Wash Facility and Fuel Station
